World Record Attempt INFO

  WORLD RECORD ATTEMPT Preregistration

This is the Centennial Year of "The Lady on the Hill," El Paso's oldest and most celebrated high school. You are part of the 131-year history of the school and its 100-years "On The Hill." It is your privilege to engage in the Centennial of your alma mater AND help to establish a new world record for the largest ever high school reunion. Don't stand aside, get on to the playing field, literally!

  1. Read the information about the World Record Attempt (WRA) registration, just click here to be connected (http://www.ephsalumn.com/ephs-guinness-registration/);
  2. Complete the WRA Registration Form on-line, or send by snailmail or E-mail with the required evidence that you attended El Paso High School (it's a lot easier than you might suspect);
  3. Show-up on Saturday, 8 October, at EPHS between 9 AM and 1 PM to complete your registration and be issued a wristband so you may be counted;
  4. Line-up when called to enter the playing field in RR Jones Stadium (at the Ange Street gate) and from there pass through the counting station with hundreds, hopefully several thousand, EPHS alumni, former faculty, and staff;
  5. Celebrate one heck of a gathering of El Paso Tigers from the Class of 1936 through the Class of 2016!

Be a part of this unique opportunity to write another page in the storied El Paso High School history. Yes, waiting to go through the counting station then waiting on the field until everyone is counted may be a bit boring and a pain in the posterior, but in your lifetime, how many opportunities do you have to set a world record? Besides, just think of how many other Tiger alumni you'll meet on that day?

Register for the WRA on-line at the EPHS Alumni Association website http://www.ephsalumn.com/ephs-guinness-registration/.

You do not have to be a member of the El Paso High School Alumni Association to participate in this exciting WRA, but it would be welcome.

You do not have to join the EPHS66 Quinquagenary Reunion to participate in his exciting WRA, but you would probably be glad you did join the Class of 66 reunion anyway.

You do not have to attend the "Battle for The Claw" football game prior to the WRA, but it would be fun to cheer-on the Tigers as they once again defend "The Claw" by vanquishing the Panthers. The WRA Registration Form includes the opportunity to purchase tickets in advance and save $2 per ticket.

If you reside outside of El Paso and cannot come to la High on that Centennial Celebration Saturday, you may still play a role in the WRA by joining the Alumni Association (annual dues are $16 minimum, September through August annually) at www.ephsalum.com

If you would like to participate in the WRA but have concerns about mobility (negotiating the steps, for example), plans include multi-passenger golf carts to transport participant with mobility issues from the Schuster Avenue level to the field level at Ange Street . Let the Alumni Association know that you may need assistance (there is a check box on the WRA registration form for this purpose) and the WRA Committee will contact you about how barriers may be overcome to allow you to proudly be among those counted.

Need some help to get copies of pages from the Spur? Use CONTACT US with your request and a pdf file will be sent to you by E-mail. (Refer to the Announcement below, World Record Attempt: Got a Smart Phone but not a Sanner?, for an alternative way to copy your evidence.)

Let's set a new world record togehter!

  World Record Attempt:  Anwers to FAQ

From the EPHS Alumni Association a few things to clarify frequently asked questions.

(I) You have to have attended or worked at EPHS for at least one school year to count toward the World Record.

(II) You have to check-in and attend the Attempt on Oct. 8th to count toward the record. That morning you will  check-in to get a numbered chip (like at a marathon) to be counted on the record.  Get there early, please.

(III) Just because you register online doesn't mean you already count on the record: YOU MUST BE PRESENT to be counted. If you register online, you still have to submit your necessary copies, especially of a government issued ID and a legal name change document, where necessary. We can make SPUR yearbook copies for you if you don't have access to a needed yearbook (mark the third check box on the registration form).

(IV) You technically may register the day of the attempt; HOWEVER, please don't wait, it would be a logistical nightmare to make several thousand copies the day of the event. Get registration taken care of as quickly as possible.

(V) If you are a member of the Alumni Association, you are still required to register for the Guinness World Record Attempt. Your valued Association Membership and the GWRA Registration are completely separate registration processes.

Thanks Tigers, we hope this helps with some confusion. Feel free to ask any other questions and we'll answer them as quickly and clearly as is practical.. Remember this is a once in a lifetime event, we only get one opportunity to celebrate our Centennial.
