David Mendez Obituary

DavidMendez was born on December 29, 1947 to the late Alfredo and EliaMendez in El Paso, Texas. He passed away peacefully while surrounded by family on Saturday, June 6, 2020. David graduated from El Paso High School in 1966. He was a veteran who served his country during theVietnamWar as a member of the United States Navy for six years. He retired as an employee of the City of El Paso in 2003, after 29 years of service. He was amember of the Ascarate Golf Association and LULAC. David is survived by his wife, Sandra A. Mendez, sons, RicardoMendez (Ileana), Joaquin M. Mendez, and Gabriel R. Mendez (Sandy), seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, brother, JaimeMendez, and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his brother, Alfredo Mendez, sister, Dolores Mendez, and eldest son, David L. Mendez. Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 11, 2020 from 10:30 a.m. to2:00 p.m. with a Rosary prayer at 1:00 p.m. at San Jose Funeral Home-East, located at 10950 Pellicano Dr., El Paso, Texas. A private burial service will be held at Ft. BlissNational Cemetery withMilitaryHonors. We are eternally grateful to theMatrixHomeHealth Care, Nurses Care, and Elara Hospice.

Sandra Mendez Obituary

Sandra Adriana Mendez was born on July 9, 1948 to the late Luciano and Dora Otero in San Pedro, California. She passed away on the evening of December 3, 2020. Raised in Yuma, AZ, she graduated from Yuma High in 1966. She then moved to San Diego, CA where she met her husband, David Mendez. In May of 1972, she moved to El Paso, TX and married him. Sandra spent the next 48 years married to him, before he preceded her in death in June of 2020. She retired from Texas Tech Health Sciences Center in 2010 after 32 years of service. During her time there, she work as an administrator and helped establish the Breast Care Center. She is survived by her sons, Ricardo Mendez (Ileana), Joaquin M. Mendez, Gabriel R. Mendez (Sandy), seven grandchildren (David Michael, Alessandra, Gabriela, Gisela, Elijah, Mila and Olivia), and two great-grandchildren, sister, Cathy, brothers, Joaquin, Joseph, Frank, and Luciano and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her oldest son David L. Mendez. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 15, 2020 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. with a Rosary prayer at 6:00 p.m. at San Jose Funeral Home-East, located at 10950 Pellicano Dr., El Paso, TX. A private burial service will be held at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery at a later date. She will be greatly missed by her family and those who loved her. She is by the side of her beloved husband, once again.
