Jim was a kind, sweet soul and he loved his family deeply. Family was a number one priority. We couldn't go anywhere without someone saying hello that he knew from El Paso High.

James was one of those quiet personalities with a good sense of humor and a ready smile.  Really!  I recall playing football with James at EPHS -- he worked hard in practice, didn't say much, but never bemoaned the grind and the dusty sprints "up the hill" on Ange Street.  Even if he got runover in a scrimmage, he smiled, seemingly just glad to be part of the team.  It seems that is how James faced the rest of his life:  just glad to be part of it!

I have many fond memories of James. We were not only classmates and part of the ROTC,, but, we were friends before all that!   Our Sisters  were best friends and we would hang out with them, or rather tagged along.     I am so sorry to hear of his passing but he and his family will be in my prayers!  Thanks for the memories of our youth,  James!  Angie Enriquez Heredia

James was best man at my sister’s wedding.  I had known James in high school, but we really were not friends.  It turned out that James and my brother-in-law were best friends and I was a bridesmaid at this wedding. James and I were partnered.   We had a great time that day.  I found out James had a quiet sense of humor, he was a kind and a gentle human being. My friend, Mary, my brother-in-law’s sister, and I always referred to him as a gentle giant.

I am very sorry to learn of his passing and wish to offer his widow and family my deepest condolences.  Rest In Peace sweet, gentle man.
